Kanjurmarg site will be used for the car shed, which will serve line 3 and 6 of the Metro corridor. The move to relocate the car shed from Aarey came amid reports that the state government was considering if two of the upcoming Metro lines could share maintenance facility. 16 Dec 2020 The Bombay High Court has ordered a stay on the Mumbai Metro car shed project in the city's Kanjurmarg area.

Last month, the state government had shortlisted two alternative sites, Kanjurmarg and Goregaon Pahadi, for a common car shed for Metro 3 and Metro 6. The Kanjurmarg announcement by Thackeray came as a surprise as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had been asked to undertake a feasibility study for the Goregaon Pahadi site. Shanties have come up near the Kanjurmarg metro carshed site in what officials describe as attempts at land grab. The development comes as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) goes ahead with the construction of Metro 3 and 6 carshed at the site.
